Information on Ribbons of
Sympathy for Iraqi Civilians
at Shippensburg University
As
fellow human beings we have a responsibility to offer care and concern for the
Iraqi people. It is our plea that you will do all in your power to assist the
Iraqi with humanitarian aid, care and concern. It is our moral obligation to
consider each Iraqi life as sacred and valuable. We cannot, out of patriotic
hubris, think and pray only for our American friends and neighbors involved in
this war. We must think and pray for the Iraqi people with the same concern and
sympathy that we would for members of our own families. As human beings we are
one family. The Iraqis are just as much our neighbors as any American who is
fighting in this war; we have a duty to do as Jesus admonished us, to love our
neighbors (all of our neighbors) as we love ourselves!
